Good preparation makes a real difference to your comfort, your recovery and your result. Please read this carefully, and contact us before your appointment if anything is unclear.

Your preparation timeline
1–2 weeks before
Avoid other treatments in the area. Keep your weight stable. Let us know about any medical changes.
1 week before
Where medically appropriate, avoid blood-thinning medicines and supplements (see below) to reduce bruising.
48 hours before
No alcohol. Hydrate well. Prioritise good sleep.
On the day
Eat a proper meal, arrive with clean skin, wear loose clothing, and plan to take it easy — with no long sitting or driving afterwards.
To reduce bruising — 1 week before
Why: these thin the blood and can increase bruising. Only where medically appropriate, and never stop anything prescribed without your doctor's approval.
Medicines
- Aspirin
- Ibuprofen & anti-inflammatories
- Naproxen
- Blood thinners (only with your doctor's approval)
Supplements
- Fish oil & Omega-3
- Vitamin E
- Ginkgo biloba
- High-dose garlic, ginger or turmeric
Paracetamol is fine if you need pain relief.
48 hours before
Please avoid
- Alcohol
- Very salty food
- Strenuous workouts of the area
Please do
- Drink plenty of water
- Get good quality sleep
- Eat well — protein supports healing
On the day of treatment
Please do
- Eat a proper meal beforehand
- Drink plenty of water
- Shower and arrive with clean skin
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing
- Arrange to avoid long sitting or driving after
Please avoid
- Creams, oils or makeup on the area
- Fake tan
- Alcohol
- Tight clothing or shapewear
Plan ahead for a smooth recovery
The first two weeks are about protecting the area from pressure — so a little planning makes recovery far more comfortable.
Have ready at home
- A cushion you can sit on your thighs with (a "BBL" / coccyx cushion is ideal)
- Loose, comfortable clothing
- Paracetamol and arnica
- A plan to sleep on your front or side
- A quieter couple of weeks for events & long journeys
Please contact us before your appointment if you
- Feel unwell or have a fever
- Have any infection, spot or skin breakage in the area
- Become pregnant or think you might be
- Start any new medication
- Have had a recent illness, surgery or another treatment in the area
If in doubt, always contact us — in many cases we can simply reschedule to a safer time.
