Before Your Treatment
Preparing for Breast Filler
A little preparation makes your treatment safer, reduces bruising and swelling, and helps you get the loveliest result.
The days leading up to your appointment matter. Following the steps below helps reduce bruising and swelling, lowers the risk of complications, and helps your result settle beautifully.
Never stop prescribed medication without first speaking to your GP or prescriber. The advice below is general — if you're unsure about anything, contact us before your appointment.
◆
About one week before
Reduce your risk of bruising
Why: these thin the blood, which can increase bruising and bleeding. Only where medically appropriate — never stop anything prescribed without your doctor's approval.
Best to avoid (~1 week)
- Aspirin
- Ibuprofen & other anti-inflammatories
- Naproxen
- Blood thinners (only with your doctor's approval)
- Alcohol
Supplements to pause
- Fish oil & Omega-3
- Vitamin E
- Ginkgo biloba
- High-dose garlic, ginger & turmeric
You may continue
- Paracetamol, if you need pain relief
- All prescribed medication (do not stop without your doctor)
Look after your skin & general health
Helpful in the run-up
- Keep the chest skin clean and healthy — no new rashes, spots or irritation on the area
- Reduce or stop smoking/vaping where you can — it supports healing
- Eat well and sleep well to support your immune system
◆
24–48 hours before
Please avoid
- Alcohol (thins the blood, increases bruising & swelling)
- Intense chest / upper-body exercise (chest press, push-ups, heavy lifting)
- Excessive salty or processed food (encourages swelling)
Please do
- Hydrate well — aim for 2–3 litres of water daily (unless medically advised otherwise)
- Prioritise good sleep
- Eat a balanced, protein-rich diet
Well-hydrated, well-rested tissue heals more comfortably.
◆
What to wear & bring
What to wear
- A loose, comfortable top that's easy to remove and put back on
- Ideally a soft, non-underwire bra (or bring one) — underwire can press on a tender area afterwards
- A front-opening or loose top for comfort on the way home
What to bring
- A list of your current medication & supplements
- Details of any allergies
- Your completed consent form (or complete it beforehand)
- A soft, supportive bra to change into if you wish
◆
On the day
Please do
- Eat a proper meal beforehand (helps prevent feeling faint)
- Drink plenty of water
- Arrive with clean skin on the chest — no heavy creams, oils or fake tan
- Allow extra time so you arrive relaxed
Please avoid
- Alcohol
- Strenuous exercise beforehand
- Heavy caffeine on an empty stomach
- Fake tan on the chest

When to postpone — please tell us first
Contact us BEFORE your appointment if you
- Are, or might be, pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive — breast filler is not carried out in these cases
- Feel unwell, have a fever, cold, flu or any active infection
- Have any active skin infection, rash, spot or irritation on the chest
- Notice any new breast lump or change — please see your GP first; cosmetic treatment must wait until this is checked
- Are due, or have recently had, a mammogram or breast screening — tell us so we can plan timing
- Have had recent surgery, or a recent aesthetic treatment on the chest
- Have started new medication, or your medical history has changed
- Have a cold sore or other active herpes outbreak
In most cases we can simply move your appointment to a safer time. If in doubt, always contact us.
Our priority is your safety
If we feel treatment is not in your best interests on the day, we may postpone it until it can be performed safely. Your safety always comes before proceeding.
